MY 09 is production after Septemer 2008. However, the 5 series will only get the new idrive controller + idrive as of November 2008.. So if your gets produced between sep and nov, then you will be getting the old but mature idrive with idrive controller

I have just checked the UK Website Car Configurator and it definitely shows in the photographs the new style iDrive with the quick select buttons around the dial. So it should indicate that orders placed from now should include it.

Next week my 520d will be arriving by the dealer, with th enew i-drive, for sure, I will put a picture in the forum.

I have to say that I will join the "November club" in this matter. The Swedish price list clearly says that availability is from November 2008, so buying a E60/E61 in model year 2009 (from Sep 2008) will not automatically give you the new improved Navigation.
However, reading the current broschure I understand you will get the new iDrive controller from Sept production.
