Hi I've got a very good price on a pair of BMW OEM 124 wheels. The problem/question is if you can fit them on a E61. They are 8" wide in the front (245) and 9" wide in the rear (275). My dealr doesn't dare/care to answers my question. Anyone here? I'm in a bit of a hurry... I got a real RFT puncture yesterday...

cheers,

I talked to my dealer again. He said that the touring has bigger rear break. And 9" won't fit. Is it true?

It's me again...

I called another dealer here in Stockholm. He said that it probably wouldn't be any problems. He had fitted much wider wheels than supposed on bimmers before. But he told me to try. The problem is that the wheels has no tires and I'm not interested in buying 4 new P-Zeros just to check if it works out..

I think it is still not clearly stated as possible. When I ordered mine with the 124's the dealer told me that it was not possible to take the order with the 275 rear.
However, in the link that quickin gives there are pictures of an E61 with big rear rims.
Personally I would not risk the money.
Did you consider getting rid of the RFT?

Exactly. I'm planning to change to non-RFT:s. I'm really tired of them now. I've had a lot of false punctures. Tried with new RFT-tires and other wheels. Still false punctures. And now the other day I thought the car performed strange, I checked the air pressure in the tires... rear left: 0,0 bar, empty! And this time no warning on the iDrive!!! This was really dangerous, I had been going in 130km/h just minutes before... I don't want to risk my life being a BMW-test pilote.

I don't think I dare to buy them (the wide rear wheels). There must be a reason why BMW don't think they are suitable for the E61.

I had false warnings all the time!
Same happened to me: blown rear tyre and no warning whatsoever from the idrive.

Problem seems to be solved with the latest software update.
