If I try Steptronic's kickdown when the car stands still, will it fire off like a canon ball?

Well I suppose that all depends on what motor you have...

530d. I thought there must be some sort of security that makes kickdown possible only at high speeds. Otherwise, well, a canon ball.

There will be a slight delay and then the car will take off at speed(with the T/C light flashing). The engine will limit power at slower speeds so as to not destroy the trnsmission etc.

Hi,

How do you kickdown in and auto? I only thought you could while driving. I have tried foot flat from brake to accel and you simply take off from slow and speed up. Are you refering to wheel spin in an auto? If please educate this ignorant twat (Me)! Thanks

Just put your foot flat to the floor from a standstill. Just like you would if you using kickdown while driving. If your take off is slow it could be that you engine gearing struggles a bit with the weight its trying to move. My car flies off the line after the initial delay but its bit more powerfull.

It's a weird experience. When you try and make a quick getawat from a junction, there's that little bit of hesitancy. So you put you foot down a little harder and all of a sudden it's off like a rocket.
