I'd like to know where to put jack stands under the car for various tasks, and where to jack the car up to accomplish this:
1) Raising the front end, e.g. for oil change. I've read Agent 99's post of 10/24/05 which says you can jack from a center point under or behind the engine, and put the jack stands under the jacking points along the rocker panel. Is this safe (re damaging the car)? Any other methods?
2) Raising the rear. On my E21 I jack from under the differential and put jack stands under the frame rails. I haven't been under the E60 enough to know if there is a suitable frame rail, let alone if it's safe (again re damaging the car) to put jack stands under it. Any ideas?
3) Raising just one corner. Can you jack at a jacking point and put a jack stand under a frame rail, or vice versa?
Thanks, all, in advance.
