Aux In to squirt in those MP3's via anything you like is the way to go....I use an IPAQ which has a nice colour TFT and touch screen, can see ya tracks clearly, and control via big touch screen buttons..
I use Conduit Pocket Player instead of Media Player 9

naturlik you are right, but I just wanted to help I use aux w archos but you can use any mp3 and it is cool.
Sooner or later Icelink must be ready.... I think it is. and that has idrive interface too.
ATS77, may I remind you on the fact that BMW have promissed iPod for their cars since 2003/2004. Look at what the competition brings on iPod compatibility.
But I like to go a bit further: you and I would benefit from a dutch iDrive system in our cars. Mine is from june 2004 and is still not retrofitable with dutch language being standard with all dutch specced cars since march 2005. this is crazy and unacceptable !!

but my advice is since you like music go 4 the only available option: get the aux-in.
when soon next year Dension's new awesome product will be out you may still buy that as that will be in compl. w Idrive and aux-in is not. I have also aux and luv it w my L7.
