Interested in 2010 E61 Wagon - but it has a new engine!

Car has about 43,000 miles. It is being sold by a non-BMW dealer and is therefore not certified. Its Carfax says it had a new engine installed under warranty at the BMW dealer in Darien, CT in 2011. Before I would buy this car, I would see how much it would cost to get an extended warranty thru BMW - and would only buy the car if the warranty price is reasonable. I am interested in the car as it is at a good price and is the exact color combo I like. Should I pursue or step away due to the engine replacement?

They are asking $34K. They way it is equipped, plus the need to buy the warranty, makes me think that it is worth about $32K, maybe $31K. It has my favorite color (white with tan upholstery) but I may go for a gray/gray certified & loaded wagon instead.

If I were you I'd go down to Darien BMW, make nice.. talk extended warranties and then ask them for the service history and see what really went on with that wagon.. If it seems legit it's way better than gray/gray.
I too am a fan of white on tan, and wouldn't settle till I found one ...

Well, I went and saw the gray/gray one, but it looked a little worn. Another dealer nearby had a nicely equipped white with black upholstery, and I got it. Fewer miles, great color combo, and I bought it! Looking forward to many happy miles tearing around in it!
