In the meantime while I'm trying to solve it, does anyone know how where the sensor is to tell the car the hatch is closed? My lights won't shut off when it thinks the trunk is open...

Have you scanned for any DTC codes yet?

 

Also important to know if it thinks the whole hatch is open or just the glass. The hatch wiring is often problematic on these cars. I've had a new harness sitting in my garage for a year, not looking forward to replacing it. I just live north of you in Abbotsford, BC, maybe we have to commiserate over our hatches over the holidays when I come to Renton
