How do I open my tailgate glass with no switch?
Hi,
I've trawled the forum and I know there is a common problem with the wiring harness but I can't find an answer to my particular problem.
The rear hatch kept popping open so I just pulled (ripped!) the small ribbon cable out the micro switch as I never used it anyway. Now I have the dreaded number plate light fault etc!
I need to know how to pop the rear glass as I need to get to the hinges to see if I have broken wires. Are there 2 cables I can short together? Does anybody know what colour they are?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Colin.

Hey Mate,
You can pop up the lid by contacting thin Brown-Blue cable to ground.
Can be found under right side roof speaker. There are two bunches of wires and this Brown-blue wire is in left bunch.
Cut wire and connect to ground. See attachement.
Hopefully wire for the solenoid is still intact. That wire goes in left hinges.

That's for your quick reply, I'll give it a go although I'm not too hopeful. The reason being I was needing a quick fix to get the glass staying shut and ripped out the wire inside the button below the wiper not the solenoid!
My wife is away with the car just now, fingers crossed I can get it open when she gets back

This is where I have removed the wire from, in hindsight I should have read more posts rather than just rip it out but I was needing it shut very quickly!
