Well I finally got hold of BMW and asked if there was bluetooth in the car and they said no

They also siad they wouldn't reccomend adding a bluetooth module bacuse it would mean reconfiguring iDrive

So, who has added a bluetooth module? Where does it go and how easy is it to do ?

It has nothing to do with the iDrive and everything to do with the TCU and if you a wired for Bluetooth. Fist you need to find the TCU module in the trunk. Should be on the driver side of the trunk. Once located check to see if you have the Bluetooth symbol on the TCU. If you do then it is an easy fix and if you don't you will need to purchase a used one.

You have to code the TCU to your car, change the VIN and activate it if have have to buy one. If you have not programmed and coded a module it may be a little difficult if your not computer savvy.

What circled in red is the symbol you are looking for on your TCU. I don't know if you have navigation or not but you will have to find once similar to yours with the addition of the Bluetooth symbol of you does not have it

I think he meant if I want the BlueTooth to appear on the iDrive menu ......

My iDrive settings end at Time and Date and I'd want the Bluetooth to appear in settings to be able to link my Samsung S10 to it.

Does that make sense ?

Ok I'm understanding now. You will still have to do what I said above but in addition to programming the TCU you will also have to code CCC/CIC to get it in the menu. Should be only a couple setting that need to change in that module. Mind you your car must be prepared for Bluetooth already from factory meaning it's already cabled

Are there any daiagrams anywhere on how to dis assemble the trim to get at the TCU ?

Ive had a look and everything seems to be interlocked. There ia screww on the top edge by the power supply, a stud at the bottom, do you have to take out the mounting scress for the roller cover mechanism etc ?>

Also on that second panel he didn't remove in the video there is a hook ring at the bottom of it. Unscrew that bolt to get better access to the panel

Can I just be clear Mine is an E61 Estate He is saying you get to through lifting up the boot panel to reveal the undertray. That is held in place by two press studs and then it's in front of you. ?

I think I can see a module behind the panel with the 12 volt supply point and going towards the front of the car Thats the panel I was trying to remove.

If it is supposed to be in the the position he went to I'll have a closer look toimorrow By removing the two studs and see what I can find, Althoiugh BMW told there wasnt a Blue tooth module in the car as I said in an earlier post

If it isnt there I may as well fit an old Motorola 2700 phone in it
