Phew!

The main ones that worry me are the suspension and the swirl flaps. The swirl flaps thing sounds horrific!! I read a bit about it but I'm wondering whether, if I get them removed, the car will still pass the MOT emissions test.

Regarding the wires in the tailgate breaking, our car has apparently had a re-call where they do something to the tailgate hinge. Don't know if that means it isn't a problem for me.

Huh? A re-call due to something with the tailgate hinge? I haven't heard about this one - could you investigate please and let us know?

Yep, I'll ask the dealer when I go to get the car. Must admit, I didn't see it on the VOSA website, but all this is coming second hand from my other half so who knows what it really meant! I'll try and find out.

without hijacking this topic , I have a diesel question that could be of interest to the topic-starter. I just changed from a 530i to a 530xd and see now that the adaptive rev not really moves down from 4k revs to 4.5k (the red fixed part) after the engine warms up. Is this normal for a diesel?

Shrike, maybe your engine just does not warm up? Its quite common for the diesel thermostats to stop working after a few years. My 530d runs at 65-75 degrees and the rev indicators does not move too far. I have to change the thermostat..

On another note, can you please post pics of your car, especially the truffel brown interior? I almost bought an E61 in Titangrau II and with Truffelbraun comfort seat interior last year, loved it! :-) And they are pretty rare!
