Hi all

I have bought a used head up display, and before I begin to take the car apart I would like to be
sure the unit works.

I have created the wiring and connected it to the car. I have NOT connected the most to the HUD!.

When I pres the button to activate the HUD it lights up (I am looking into the mirror in the HUD, because the HUD on the front seat). but all I see is a orage field with no information in it.

I would have guessed that I could se fx. 0 km/h in the display...

Everything is coded to the car, no errors in Inpa and I can talk to the hud without problems.

Do I need to connect the MOST to show information in the HUD or should there be information without the MOST?

Greetings from DK

Of Course you need to connect it properly.
If not it wont get any Information from the Car.
Orange Screen sounds like Diag Mode.

For more info on the retrofit go here (might need to register)

I made a DIY for this retrofit.

HUD is one of the options I've always wanted on my car!

Sorry, I'm no help here, just wanted to wish you luck!

Just discussed this with my specialist... apparently you need a new windscreen with a special reflective lining

Thats correct, but some have done it with the normal windscreen anyway.
Try and search for it.

Will do mate....

I did a retrofit auto lights/wipers on my previous Audi S3 - this needed a new windscreen for the install - luckily for me, someone who had a grudge decided to smash it one night costing me £50 excess

Hi.

No, you don't need MOST to get it to show km/h. I did this myself on a E60 MY2004.
The km/h is provided through the canbus (be accurate with the high / low). MOST will provide navigation information as well.

Have you tried to run the diagnose mode on the head-up using the button?

And you do not need a special windshield either, but without you might risk a fuzzy shadow on the display.

Tommy.
