Default Fuel Pump and Door Lock Issues

Hi All,

I've two queries I am hoping someone will be able to help me with:
  1. How much should I expect to pay to get (ball park) the High Pressure Fuel pump changed on my 2008 E61 - I supplied a second hand pump
  2. The rear passenger door will not unlock or lock with th central locking either using the button on the dash or the remote. All other doors work fine. The lock will open using the door handle. Any ideas what could be causing this?
Any help on the above is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Not sure how many miles are on your car, but the HPFP for the e60/61 has an extended warranty of 10 years/120k miles. I would contact your dealership if you haven't already.

If you've already put a new battery in the fob, could be the tailgate wiring harness or the diversity module. Do some searches for those.

Exactly, it wasn't until my last visit to the dealer that they told me my '09 135i has HPFP warranty until almost 2020. However you might still need to pay for the diagnostic service which will probably cost you $50 - $150 depending on dealer and warranty you have. As far as the door locks go, I'm clueless, but if you diagnose for the HPFP might as well diagnose the door with it.

Diagnosis for the HPFP? Either it throws a code, which they can scan in 3 seconds when they get your key, or your car starts to lurch when accelerating (which is when most people take it in) or if you're lucky like me, the the pump just dies without much notice!

And since it's an official recall, if you call a dealer and read them your VIN, they can look up if the new HPFP has been installed on your car already or not, and if it hasn't, you go in and get it done.

Not much to it, either way.
