Last tankful for me was just under 21mpg, with an average speed of 57mph and that was only on B roads, no dual carrigeways or motorways so I was not exactly crusing.
Only 300 miles out of the tank. Not bad for a diesel! :'(

The OBC is innacurate
My OBC average over the last month has read 30mpg, however calculating the mpg from actual diesel used and miles driven I've actually been getting close to 34mpg. (490miles - 65litres at refuel).
That's over the last month though. Over the cold winter months fuel consumption does go up for various reasons.
My MPG always drops off after my wife has driven it
I think she enjoys it too much . (Actually -town driving)
.......Calculations are Imperial gallons not US gallons.

I've heard a lot of people say they're only getting between 20-35mpg with their diesels. Then I've heard a bunch of people say they're getting between 35-45mpg, mainly with their 520d. So I just wanna know if a diesel is even worth it at all? I have a 2004 530i, and when I drive around town and to work I get between 23-26mpg, and then when I drive from Washington to Michigan I get between 32-36mpg. Am I just getting really good gas mileage or are the 525d's just not as good as they say? By the way, I'm 21 and a college student, so it's not like I'm driving like an old lady.

I should rephrase, I don't mean really good like, "Yah this is the best gas mileage in the world, no one gets better than this!" I mean really good like, "I thought diesels were supposed to get at least 10mpg better out of an almost identical engine but I'm getting the same as they are"

Your 36 mpg = about 30 mpg in imperial gallons(UK)
All the diesel posts are in europe and in imperial gallons - hence the difference
