Default Finally an e61 owner!

It took a couple of months but I was finally able to track down a local 2010 535i xDrive that was worth what they were asking. I picked up this beauty yesterday:

It needs the gasket between the oil filter/oil cooler replaced, but outside of that it seems to be ok mechanically. Once the gasket is repaired I'll be doing the stage 1 MHD tune and intake

Awesome, enjoy! I just picked one up with the same color and wheels 2 months ago and it has been a pleasure. Quite a few little things to do on it but none are important so I'll take my time (restoring the auto liftgate since a previous owner removed the components and put regular struts in, regular maintenance, and perhaps next year I'll do turbos as I have some rattle).

Congratulations, that is exactly how mine looked when I first got it 4 years ago. Enjoy your ride!

Well, just made the first parts purchase. Ordered all the crap for the oil cooler/oil filter housing oil leak, oil filter and cabin filter just to get things back to where they should be. Looking around locally for someone to do the walnut blasting on the intake ports/valves as I'm not quite ready to DIY that one . Once the maintenance stuff is done it'll be intake + MHD time!

You may want to replace the serpentine belt also, if the oil from the oil filter has leaked onto the belt.

I'm not doing much of a "build", so I figured there wasn't really a need for an actual build log post BUT I did want to post some updates .

I have been doing some maintenance stuff as time permits but still have a lot to do. I was able to do the oil cooler/oil filter housing gasket stuff but it appears there is still a small leak somewhere. During my pre-purchase inspection the mechanic mentioned it might be the oil pan gasket. I'd like to wash the engine so that I can get a better idea on where the leak is coming from, I just don't have the guts haha. I also went ahead and replaced the coils and plugs.

As far as actual mods, I haven't done anything really crazy outside of the basic stuff. Added the ECS dual cone intake, MHD stage 1 tune, SAT transmission flash and a few random non-performance coding things (remove disclaimer, digital speedometer, etc). I'm looking at replacing the charge pipe and going with the H&R springs + new struts but I haven't totally committed to those yet. I'd still like to get some of the maintenance that was previously neglected out of the way. The water pump and walnut blasting are at the top of the list.

The car has been everything I hoped it would be. Even with these fairly basic mods it is a blast to drive!

Nice car. Same year and color as mine. What's the mileage?
