Default Considering swapping beige interior with black e60 interior. Most parts fit.

Hey all,

As the title states I am considering swapping most of the beige interior in my e61 with a friends black e60. Basically everything below the windows and from the rear seat backs forward. This would mean I would have to pick up the last few prices from a junkyard.

Wanted your thoughts. Anyone done this? I really prefer the black interior and I can cover the roof lining down the road.

Seems like a lot of work, but whatever floats your boat...

I've looked into doing this, and it's really not that hard conceptually. Door cards and other misc trim in almost any color and option combination can be found inexpensively on eBay. However, the rear seat back parts are not the same and do not cross with any version of the sedan that I could find on realoem. I wanted to do this to put black M5 seats in my Natural Brown interior and get rid of the wood trim, but I could never find rear seats in a condition I was happy with. My back seats have almost never been used and are like showroom new, so I didn't want to take a step back with junkyard parts.

You could always have the junkyard part recovered a a local leather shop.

I have decided to go to go for it and see how I like it.

I swapped black E60 interior into my E61, but kept the front beige seats and used the front black seat plastic. It keeps the continuity rather than having full black front seats and half black/half beige rear seats. I kept the beige leather from all the door cards in case I want to go two tone door cards. Overall I really like the two tone "cookies and cream".

I did this few years ago to my E61. The hardest part of this job is to swap the carpet. To pursue the OEM look you would have to remove the dashboard and heater unit. It is possible to remove the carpet without it, but it is a major shortcut.
