When you consider that my friend's 2004 Audi Allroad had automatically folding mirrors - you'd think they could / would put it on BMWs.
I drove the 2006 A6 Avant this weekend. I love this car.
-I little bigger than E61.
-Electrically Folding Mirrors.
-MMI supposed to be better than idrive.
-No Pan Roof, but has standard moon roof.
-CD does not play MP3s, but choice of either XM or Sirius, ipod on the way.
-Full size spare, and NO RUN FLATS!!!!

Mr. PC, could you find out where your freind gets his/her Audi Serviced. I am getted bad vibes from all the NYC dealers. I am very weary of buying a German car with lousy service.

Two of my friends who own Audis take theirs to Zumbach in Manhattan. They are reasonably satisfied but not wowed. A third friend has an A8 and has the same opinion, except he is tired of little things not working. The latest Consumer Reports just arrived and downgraded Audi A6 and A8 reliability to worse than average, and upgraded BMW 5 Series to better than average.

I loved the AllRoad until I drove an E61. I definitely felt that the Audi was more front-end heavy, which it is. I think the BMW handling benefits from being a rear-drive-centric car rather than front-drive-centric. For me, that was more important than the features you mention (I don't know how different the new A6 is from the AllRoad; it doesn't have the adjusting suspension so may be lighter and handle better).
