E61 Tow Fitting

Thought this might be a good place to start. We paddle and carry canoes & kayaks at speed. Use the tow fitting in the front of the wife's scooter as a tie down point

Looking for another tow fitting for the rear. Are they a universal part?

Thanks.

This is what realoem.com has for my 2006 530xi:

RealOEM.com - Online BMW Parts Catalog

The part number is:

72157070643

You can find it on Amazon:

BTW, it appears that the threads are a standard used in racing so there are other cheaper options:

I've also got kayaks. The disadvantage of the tow hook is that it is not centered. Have you looked at hood tie down loops. There are lots of them on the market. Some bolt in place. Some just use a tube to prevent the loop from slipping out.

Ggal,

Great info!

Have never considered hood tie down loops. Given that the canoe catches a lot of wind if it were to come lose I think I would prefer your tow loop solution. I'm a semi retired river guide and have seen canoes, kayaks, paddles and rafts fly during my 30 years. Mostly due to poor (dry rotted) straps, bad rope or poor knots.

Never had an issue with off centered bow lines.

Thanks again.

There are also tie down loops that bolt in using existing fender bolts.

Cool. Where were you when we strapped 5 ducks on the to of the Kis Soul?

Don't think Mrs. Snow would dig the straps - at least the tow bolt comes out for the winter when the rocket box goes on.

Thanks again!
