Hi there folks,

I have compiled a list of part numbers to replace my chrome trim with matte shadowline. The only troubling part are the rear windows. Near as I can tell, you have to replace the entire rearmost windows as the trim is not removable. Can someone please confirm or deny this?

I've seen a writeup of DIY shadowline retrofit on an E60, but am hoping for DIY documentation for the E61 if it's available.

1. 51337072883 Shadowline trim - front door top left
2. 51337072884 Shadowline trim - front door top right
3. 51217135161 Shadowline trim - front door bottom left
4. 51217135162 Shadowline trim - front door bottom right
5. 51357072891 Shadowline trim - Back door top left
6. 51357072892 Shadowline trim - Back door top right
7. 51227133927 Shadowline trim - Back door bottom left
8. 51227133928 Shadowline trim - Back door bottom right

9. 51377163603 Shadowline and individual sunshade glazing L ??
10. 51377163604 Shadowline and individual sunshade glazing R ??

I just picked the old gal up last week. The chrome wheels are new (came with the car), but I'm not a fan of them at all. I plan to replace them with OEM 166s and add the M-Aero kit, tinted windows and matte black grill.

Nice ride ... but unfortunately OEM 166 will not fit properly on the xi/AWD/X-Drive ... it'll protrude outside the fender well ... unless you OK w/ that kind of look.

You can remove the rear window trim, there is a guy in this forum who did it already so try search for that one. However it looks not possible to get the trim only from BMW or any other vendor, I've been looking myself for quite some time. I know also that other guy had them painted.

Thanks for the info. I can't imagine why the original owner would order every OTHER option save for the sport package. He even got the multi-coutour seats, but no sport wheel or shadowline trim to complete the package.

Perhaps I should be thankful, or I'd have no excuse to tinker!

I think you guys should talk to Schmiedmann (Denmark based, but supply international) and see if they can put a package together for you. I have bought all my OEM mods from them, including the US-Spec OEM Black Exhaust Tips -- in other words, they can source all OEM parts for you. Price wise I find them good and maybe you could do a group buy because there are plenty of you here in the E61 Forum who are trying to get Shaddow Line retro-fit kits. Their service is spot on and they speak English, which is why I keep going back to them.

BW535xiT has already done most of the list, so you just need to get Schmiedmann to double check it for you and "package" it for purchase. The difficult part is obviously the fixed rear window...
The items 9 & 10 on you list BW535xiT, they seem to be for the Tape to stick the window. I searched RealOEM and it looks like you can order the Shaddow Line separately for the front and rear door windows, which are the numbers you listed above in your post, but the fixed rear window gets sold with the Glass and Shaddow / Chome line together. I could not find a separate part number just for that rear fixed window's trim

10. 51377163604 Shadowline and individual sunshade glazing R ??

Under the "retro fit" section in Real-OEM they did not list it either, so I think the only way to do this is to ask a dealer or specialist to find out how you would order this option. Is it not in the Parts Catalogue or is it one of those options that is listed as "ask your dealer"?

Good luck getting it sorted guys.
Alternatively, just pay someone to put vinyl wrap on them!!

I use Tischer BMW, which has the best prices I've found and they are close enough for me to drive for pick up (in Maryland). That allows me to avoid shipping costs AND I don't pay Virginia sales tax.

I'll shoot those guys an email and ask if they can dig into this a little deeper.

Kind of expensive, but I'd rather spend the money and have the job done right as opposed to employing a vinyl tape solution.

Good to hear you have a good contact on your side of the Pond I hope they are able to come up with some clear means of ordering the shaddow line trim for you (all)...
