I have read a few posts on the forum about changing the squeeking rear lower ball joint on the E60, but nothing on the E61. I have obtained the replacement part, and was awaiting delivery of my Haynes manual before I tackled the job, to ensure I had correct torque settings etc. Now that it has arrived, and having read the relevant section, it appears to say that as there is air suspension on the back of the E61, that this is NOT a DIT fix and must go to a garage for the system to be drained and re charged once the ball jointhas been replaced.
Is this right, or is there a way around it?
