My Ride: 2005 535d Touring
Default

Hi there mates,

I recently took my 535d to get the brake fluid and microfilters replaced. I noticed, after picking up the car, that the receipt mentioned that 0.7liters of oil were added to the engine oil reserve. The car had its oil service 9000km before this event.

I cannot remember ever having to add oil between oil services (every 30k km).

So, I'm just left wondering if this is indicative of an oil burn issue, or if its all just in my head. I cannot see any signs of oil leaking anywhere, and I only get white `smoke` from the exhaust on cold/humid days (for the first 5-10 minutes or 5-10km, or so).

How often do you `have` to add oil to your engine, between services, or have you just done so to `top-it-up`.

Cheers and good riding,
Alex

I don't have to add oil to mine between services......................but then neither do I leave it for the ridiculous 20000 miles (32000km) that BMW recommends. I carry out an extra oil and filter change midway in-between BMW's recommended oil service interval.
