I think these covers are probably just for asthetics or wind noise. After looking at my engine bay it just seems they smooth out a rough looking (and a dirt catching) area.

Hmmmmm I'm wondering if there cheap, it would be a nice add on to my "old" e60

Astehtics? UNDER the hood? I doubt it... BMW is saving money on the flaps on US spec cars, why should they now spend money on this for asthetic reasons? There must be another reason...

Sorry for having been so long in time, I was in Italy for the week-end...here are the pics of the panoramic roof.. one of my favorite option I recommend it to every potential customer of the E61.
