by the way as the e61 rear lights consists of 4 parts, are there cables for the trunk needed too?

No you don't need two sets of cables. The E61 cables come with both parts although if you want you can only upgrade the body lights and keep your original boot lid lights.

I've just read your post. Good information. Im just installing my lci tail lights from 2008 e61 to my 2004 2004 e61. I've got to set the cables which I think are the correct ones attached? I just want to confirm if there's anything else I need.
