Exclamation E61 525D started smoking from underneath the collector

Hello, i was parking my car today had it turned off, and the key taken out and in the next 5 minutes i smelt something burning and my friend noticed smoke coming from under my hood. I opened it up and i saw smoke coming under my collector. After that i disconnected the battery and it stopped. I know that some wires or something shorted but i was wondering what should i check? Also afterwards i connected the battery to put it into neutral and it didn't start smoking again, but the car did not start.

I don't know what kind of advice you are expecting. Just take the intake manifold off and look.
