Dpf identification
My car is a uk 2006 525d 2.5 litre and i'm looking at removing the dpf but looking at the diagrams on real oem it has started to confuse me
In this pic it says that number 1 is the first cat and number 3 is the dpf
But in this diagram
It says that the box in the pic is the dpf
Any definite help would be appreciated

Why don't you just go and look under the car?
It depends on the manufacturing date, and the most reliable way to be sure is to get a look at it.
edit: In newer cars the part #1 is a combined DPF and the catalytic converter. Older cars there is a separate DPF (#3). You definitely need to check under the car. There is a muffler/can in the middle of the exhaust anyway, but the appearance of it tells if it is a DPF or just a muffler (in which case you have a combined DPF/Cat).
If you have a separate DPF under the car, it looks like the #3 in your picture.
If you have a combined DPF/Cat, the separate muffler under the car looks like this (#2):

Not sure if this helps but here is a picture of my DPF off my LCI 535d. This is a combined DPF and CAT, it's bolted directly on the end of the turbo.
