Noticed a few things:
POSITIVE:
1. The car is very silent compared to e39
2. The car feels very light and agile compared to e39 (or any other car...)
3. The RFT wheels are very good, stable and quiet. Even on our shitty asphalt.
8. Maple Anthracite is gorgeous.
16. Shadowline high gloss is a must
NEGATIVE:
2. Radio reception seems a tad weaker than e39 in tunnels, garages and such.

A few comments on your positives and negatives.
I was actually a bit surprised about the sound of the engine in the E60. I drove the same engine in the E39 and it sounded a lot smoother. In the E60 it is raw, supposedly the exhaust is the reason. However, I grew accustomed to it and its ok now. The tires however are still too loud IMHO. What brand/type did you get? I like the Maple Anthracite also. There was a similar interior in the E39, it was the cheapest (I had it), but I loved it. I do not agree with the shadowline. What is so nice about it????
Finally, the reason the radion reception is less is due the fact that the E39 Business had two tuners, where the E60 Business only has one. I noticed this also and think it is a shame to cut cost on this.

My Ride: e39 525i Touring, will order e61 as soon as I can decide on engine and options...
Hi,
the engine in the 520d did not exist in the e39...it's carry back from the 320d and 120d. The tires are much more quiet than on my e39. I have Good Year RFT (245/40 18) now, used to have Conti Premium Contact on the e39 (225/55 16).
Shadowline High Gloss is nice because it matches the lines of the car more than chrome in my opinion. Looks more "stealthy". Had it on my e39 to. http://web.mac.com/tegel/iWeb/Site%203/e39.html

20" Hartge Nova 7. Previously 19" staggered 172s
Tegel,
You say the load cover now goes up AND DOWN.
Have they fixed the 'automatic blindspot' on the new models?
If I have understood you correctly, I think this will be a 'must have' retrofit.

Well, mine does, but I think it is due to the automatic tailgate option.
