Decided to keep the E61
Following a few weeks of shopping around and a couple of threads, I have made the investment to fix the issues of the E61 and keep it for a few more years. Got some front suspension work done (tie rod end, upper table ball joint and upper table front bushing) and the dreaded tailgate wires have been done. Got new RH tailgate wire harness, LH tailgate harness, and new connectors.
The front end feels much tighter and the FOB, radio antenna and rear taillight all operational. I am happy once again with the E61.
I'm hoping this gets me another 3 problem free years (knock on wood).
Now shopping for winter tires.
Thank you board members for your comments over the past few weeks.

Good stuff. The car's awesome IMO when it's running well. No other substitute out there for it in NA really. And they say I think that in general, you're better off repairing a car (other than when tons of repairs are needed I suppose) than taking a hit on the depreciation and getting another car.

^^ there is no substitute in N.A. The car has been paid off for a while, it has low mileage and still very solid. When I added it all up it was best to fix the issues and not have monthly car payments.

Yeah, and I find when I mod my cars over time, even little cosmetic things, it keeps the car fresh for me and I don't get the craving to get a new one.

Good call Vanos, and while you're at it, if you haven't already, get yourself a Cobb if you have the N54 engine. Super easy to install, and it's the best $800 you've spent IMO, and you get like 75 horsepower for it! Car will feel like brand new!
