Thumbs down

I literally just reserved a 2010 White/Cream Beige E61. The dealer discounted 6% off of MSRP and then deducted the $6,000 in factory money. The car was en route from the VPC to another dealer and they are rerouting it to my selling dealership. I found another dealer, in New Jersey that was willing to do the same deal with a 5% discount. I probably could have gotten them to 5.5%. I'm buying a car with a sticker over $63,000 for just under $54,000 including the darned dealer's fee.

This is the last year for the E61 in the States and I wanted to get a new one while they were still around.

PM me for the dealer info. He's a great guy.

Most dealers in the SE USA will go $500 over invoice... With the $6k in trunk money many will go lower. Just make sure the car was not "punched" so that you get the full warranty period.

With $6K in trunk money (at least one person posted that it is actually $7.5K in trunk money), I would offer $500 over invoice then MINUS the $6K or $7.5K (if that is the correct trunk money figure). Remember, you always negotiate in relation to dealer cost. You should always offer something a little more than dealer cost. Here, the known dealer cost is invoice PLUS training fee PLUS MACO MINUS the trunk money. (Note that there are additional incentives that BMW pays dealers based on things like performance in customer satisfaction surveys that you really can't factor in).

Also, just to be clear, the fire sale extends to purchases -- not leases. My understanding is that MFs are way high and residual values are way low on outgoing E60 leases which skyrockets the monthly payment and counterblances the big trunk money. Bottom line: if you want a good deal on a 2010 E60, buy it.

Take a look at these crappy E60 lease rates from BMWFS for April 2010 leases (as posted by Tarry from Leasecompare.com on Bimmerfest's Ask-A-Dealer Forum:

2010 BMW 528i Sedan
24 Month ? Residual 54% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate
36 Month ? Residual 50% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate
48 Month ? Residual 34% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate
60 Month ? Residual 28% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate

2010 BMW 528i xDrive Sedan

36 Month ? Residual 50% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate
48 Month ? Residual 34% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate
60 Month ? Residual 27% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate

2010 BMW 535i Sedan
24 Month ? Residual 52% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate
36 Month ? Residual 48% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate
48 Month ? Residual 32% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate
60 Month ? Residual 26% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate

2010 BMW 550i Sedan
24 Month ? Residual 46% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate
36 Month ? Residual 40% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate
48 Month ? Residual 28% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate
60 Month ? Residual 22% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate

2010 BMW M5 Sedan

36 Month ? Residual 40% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate
48 Month ? Residual 28% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate
60 Month ? Residual 21% of MSRP ? .00240 Base Rate

These lease deals are simply horrible. The F10 lease deals are much better. It is clear to me that BMWFS does not want tons of E60 lease returns 3 years from now. BMWFS must believe that the value of 2010 E60s 2 and 3 years from now will be quite low and it does not want to take a bath on trying to unload lease returns.

They actually made me sign a form that I would not export the car for one year. But maybe they can arrange Euro delivery, if any US-spec are still in Germany?

The dealer is Coggin BMW in Ft. Pierce, FL. Ask for Jeff Laher (pronounced "Lair") I will PM you his email address.

many thanks for the info. Jeff was very nice; a real pro. Alas, he did not have a Touring available and all the remaining ones are already in the USA. He did point me to a dealer in New Jersey though. So the hunt continues. Just need to figure out if my wife would prefer a 2010 E61 or is she ready to forsake wagons and go for an F10.

During the course of my search, I found that Morristown BMW had 6 cars, 3 of them identical.

I don't know what they have now.
