The standard cruise control is designed to automatically disengage in slippery conditions. When it detects wheelspin, it will sound a gong and a written warning appears on the centre screen that it has disengaged due to risk of skidding. I am fine with that and I have found it a good reminder on a couple of occassions where I didn't quite realize how slippery the road surface were in spots.

A couple of months ago it occurred in 5+ degree C temperatures on dry road and when I tried to re-engage multiple times it kept disengaging, even were the road clearly wasn't slippery! After stopping, turning off the ignition about 10 seconds and restarting the engine, the problem went away.

However last week it reoccurred on numerous occassions on a long overseas trip and the stopping and restarting didn't cure it every time so it's beginning to become a nuisance I want to go away. Any idea what I need to have done with it?

Interesting problem. Just an educated guess on my part but check the tyre pressures and their condition carefully and if that shows nothing amiss could an ABS sensor be acting up? I presume you have no other warning messages.
