I checked my coolant level tonight. The red dipstick is about 1cm above the container, I'm assuming this is normal or should it be higher? I am asking for future reference just in case I need to top it up. One would think iDrive would tell you the coolant level similarly to the oil level. On the oil level, why didn't BMW provide the good old dipstick to check the oil level?

 

Too many dips***s probably got the oil reading wrong I'm guessing / rarely checked because it was a PITA for them, so they went away from the dipstick system! My 2008 335 is that way too.
