Hi!

I just bought/ordered a new E61, deep blue sea, creambeige, light poplar wood and M-sport package. My dealer says it?s delivery in late september and it?s MY07 and if I want an 2008 I have to wait with delivery to november/december. I read a lot on this forum and I have noticed that many say that they have 08 for quite a while. Whats right and whats wrong? I?m also sad, for the very first time I ordered LOGIC7 and I just read that the quality now is poor

EU MY2008 runs Sep07-Aug08. US MY has varied. The current US MY2008 started with LCI launch in March 2007.

I would check if it is a LCI model or not as this will change the engine / interior etc. If it is a MY07, but an LCI then is that a problem?

It?s a problem if I loose much money because It?s "a year old car" but it maybe doesn?t count that way???

Since you're in Sweden don't listen to the BMW NA marketing crap.

The factory starts witch production of the new MY in September. It looks as if you might get the "so called" MY 2008, but everywhere here in the EU we don't go by MY, we go by the exact date the car was built and registered first. Those two dates are the ones that are shown on the EU registration title. What we do here in EU is MUCH more exact than what they do over there in the US.

So, in EU terms, your car will be a 2007 built E61 LCI version, MY 2007 or MY 2008 (depends on the built date/month).

Congratulation for you new choice.
I have ordered mine last week as well, despite the fact it would be MY 07 or MY 08. Like Iceman is saying in EU we do not care that much about this. As car value is much more important if the registration is in the 1st or 2nd half year, at least if you want to change the car often. However as BMW has just launch the LCI I do not expect anything will change with after summer holiday production compared to the present one.

If you want to trade in your car after a few years, the dealer will call it, and pay you, for an -07 model even if it could actually be a MY08 by BMW definitions depending on the build date. When the dealer then sells your old car, he will call it an -08 model. That's what dealers do, at least in Sweden.

But I wouldn't worry. You will get an LCI with the new engine and the new interior and that's what's important.

You didn't say what engine you ordered. If it's the 520d make sure you get the new engine which comes with September production.

There is no reason to dispair - you'll get a nice car and the only thing you will miss AFAIK is the Start-Stop thing that will be launched in Sep production for the 5-series. As gorban said, you'll loose a couple of thousand SEK when you trade in your car, but you'll approx. the same amount of money if you go for a MY07 due to a) better discount and b) no price update as planned for cars produced Sep->.

There seems to be some concern about the L7 in the LCI. Personally, I ordered my E61 with "DIRAC" - maybe that's an option for you too...? I believe it'a another 9.000 SEK.

...and you will be loosing the Start-Stop thing only if you are going for a manual gear-box as it is not supposed to be on the automatic.
