Recently picked up an 08 535xiT with PDC and Cold Weather package. Itching to add the M-Tech body kit, but the OEM kit then rquires an additional $1800 in additional parts because the PDC holes are the wrong size, and you need new bump stops, etc, etc. Saw the guys are Trinity Auto Sport have the frontend and side skirts for LCI w/ PDC, and seems no additional parts are needed. A rear bumper [for LCI/PDC] should be available in March of this year thru Trinity. Other than one being made by bimmer and one being a replica, are there any differences in construction/safety/performance that would justify speding the extra $2000? From what I can tell OEM and Rep are both just cosmetic fascias, and the rep is made of polypropolene, so should stand up well to sun/cold, etc.

Thanks 415. That is the way I was leaning, cause I could 3 sets of replicas for the price of the OEM.

Did a bunch of research, and then emailed Garry at BMW Newport. Because my car is LCI [my '08+] and has PDC, the OEM M-Tech kits requires extra bits, like bumpstops, and all the PDC sensors are different sizes [on the kit v the car] so you need all new sensors, think there are 8 or more between front and rear. Here is the break down I was given:

LCI Aero kit w/ PDC for an E61 wagon - $1321.50
Additional parts including PDC's - $1858.50

Then $200 for shipping, and it still had to be installed and painted.

Went with the kit from Umnitza. The rear bumper has marks for where PDC needs to the be, but they are not drilled. My shop should be able to deal with that. All in, shipped was $800. Will have the shop check fitment before they install, if its bad I'll return it.

If you don't have PDC, the extra parts are less, but you still need the bumpstops. Not all BMW Parts depts are created equal, give Garry a call or email, the man knows his stuff. Garry 401-847-9600 ext 2448 gromani@bmwofnewport.com

I received a reply from Umnitza stating that only the front and sides would work, but not the rear. What did you do for the back and is your kit installed? I also have an 08 xit w/ PDC

Viper - Umnitza told me it would work for an LCI wagon with PDC, just needed to have the PDC holes drilled in the rear. There were already markings for where to drill. My body shop should be able to deal with that, even if it costs a bit more. Worst case, I sell the rear and wait for a rep MTech rear with PDC [Trinity is saying they may have em by March] Alternatives were go with an OEM rear, ~$1300 including all the bits and sensors you'd need. Or go with the M5 rear that DOES have PDC, and then spring for a dual exhaust [umnitza has that them for $500]
