Hi all,
Well I continue the discoveries on my E61 and there I came across something that I do not pick up: no locking of the steering wheel?
In fact on my ex 320D touring as soon as I pulled the key I heard this little electrical noise that tells me that the steering wheel was locked. Like on the mini 2011 for my wife as soon as I turn the key to the small electric latch locks the steering wheel.
But on my 2008 E61 to nothing!
I can turn the wheels (with a lot of muscles) but I just can not lock the steering wheel
Is this normal doctor??
Thank you for your answers in advance

Hi Again,
Juste tested to lock the car with the window openned and then nothing, the steering lock is not present.
Apparently there must be a lock, so i can assume that it's a defect...
Any idea?
Maybe a fuse? but if it was the case, it should indicate a default on onboard computer i assume?

I checked on my car this morning - sat in the driver's seat with the car unlocked and the wheel could be turned. Locked the car with the remote and could hear something from the column area. Could then no longer turn the wheel.

Hi again Phelix,
Exactly what i though, the same process as in my ex 2010 320D touring and as my Mini 2011... electric lock in the steering wheel column...
So i have a small defect here...
Is there a fuse corresponding to this? (my manual is in dutch and i'm french so it's not that easy to read)
or maybe with a bit of WD40 in the place where i enter the key...

My car has comfort access. If I insert the "key" into the column it doesn't lock until the key is removed. When I leave the "key" in my pocket the column doesn't lock until I use the remote to lock the car.
