I need to buy some roof bars for my E61 and would like to hear the opinions of anyone that already has them; I'll also need two bike carriers to go ontop of these so opinions there would also be very helpful.

Many thanks.

www.roofbox.co.uk will tell you everything you need to know.

I bought the Atera signo bars from them (I also bought a roofbox and bars for my e46), great company, very knowledgable and reliable.

I want to sell my e60 bars (only used once) cause I have a 330i on order, but it looks like the touring ones are slightly different.

Good luck

Before my BMW I had a Saab 95 SW. And before that car I had a Volvo 850 SW.

Well, I keep the same roof bars since 10years now and still they are perfect. Valid for any SW.

As you know SW roof bars grip system is different from non SW. They are fixed by gripping on the built in rails of your car.

Consequently you can buy any make at ths store. (mines are Thule). Cheap and smart

I recommend Thule. They have very good roof bars and bike carriers.

They are easy to put on, can be locked and are as easy and quick to remove.

For greater choice on bike carriers you could also check special bike internet sites eg www.wiggle.co.uk for alternatives.

I say Thule too, I have had the same system on my E46 touring, A4 avant, A6 avant and now the 535d touring, just had to buy some wider Aero bars for the A6, and now using them on the BMW.

The Pro Carrier bike mount is great too, can get 4 bikes on the 535d no problem and it only takes 1 minute to get each on/off.

I'd have to say Thule too - I picked up a bargain from Faster Online a few months ago.

I wasn't sure which one I needed for my car so I gave 'em a call. They were very knowledgeable and knew what I needed straight away.

It's not often I feel that I have to recommend a company but the level of service was great.

Ah - just noticed how old this topic is - oh well I may as well leave the post for anyone that stumbles upon it.
