Hello,

Is has been stated as a fact that the automatic transmission in the 525d LCI is not the same as in the 530d/535d LCI.

It seems the truth might not be so simple.

According to this document the MY08 525d/530d/535d E61 uses the same automatic transmission (6HP26) but the according to this similare document the MY09 e60 525d uses the weaker 6HP19.

It seems BMW might have cut some costs for the MY09 525d compared the previous year????

I will get my MY08 525d e61 11/07 next week and I try to find out.

AFAIK, the difference between pre-LCI 525 vs 530 auto box is torque converter.
The 530d has the same box, but with a larger torque converter.
But please share with us what you find out.

User "Pennetta" on this thtead alledge that the smaller engines use a GM tranny versus the larger engines ZF tranny https://5series.net/forums/topic/426..._rudy__st__125

I gues it could be interesting to learn just which models the Sports Automatic option was available on, as that is made for the ZF tranny.

The engine is the same, as they all use same 3.0 liters diesel. Auxilliary parts and mapping is different.
