Default Auto tailgate hydraulic fluid top up?

So, if you look at the pic my question should be obvious..

This is from a 2006 e61, with an auto tailgate that only goes half way up, and as you can see the Hydraulic fluid is low.

Shellair 4 seems to be the required fluid, BUT, I cant find a schematic anywhere on where to top it up from?

Anyone?

No idea, but if you cannot get an approved method you could always brute force a fix. It looks like they used a crimp clamp for the reservoir in typical BMW style. Maybe it's possible to cut the clamp, top it off, and replace with a regular worm style clamp?

You have to remove the entire pump assembly (2x M6 nuts and 1x M6 screw) and turn it upside down. The filler hole is on the bottom of the reservoir. See picture below:

Good to know!
I'm having the same problem where the lift gate stops half way up or down.
Headed in for service tomorrow.

I have the same problem. I was wondering what kind of work the dealer did? Is it easy to do yourself?

I have 2006 530xd equipped prologic i7 sound system. There is an amplifier for the system where the pump must be. Where could I find it? Anyone? Thanks.

It's behind the amp.
