Default Auto -> Manual Discussion

Hey all, I'm starting to do a bit of research on what it might take to swap my auto 535i xdrive to manual. As is the norm (the man is a machine!), Evan shared some details on his research here: https://5series.net/forums/e61-touri...l-swap-140155/, but that was back in 2014. That thread has a good amount of info, at least enough to continue the research process, but I thought I'd check and see if anyone had played around with this and if so, what tips they might offer up.

TIA

Look into the E90 chassis. Most parts will be the same(or very similar) and even the coding process. Its more documented and more have been done.

Regardless I like your decision to go stick.

In case anyone else is curious, there is another great thread here on doing an E90 swap: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1207505.

Time to start searching around the junk yards

Easiest way?

Buy this and you have 100% of what you need for a rwd manual swap:

Want AWD manual? Even easier, manual AWD junkers are easier to come by and much less parts to change. Tranny and clutch items I believe only.
