Its a very long story, so i wont go into it, but at the moment i have an issues where my car is reporting coolant low, however there is plenty of fluid..
I changes water pump, termo and coolant reservoir in the past due to failures however now i'm getting this warning.
I believe the issues is the high pressure of the water pump tell tail jet in the coolant reservoir making contact with the fluid level stick, forcing it down and resulting in the coolant level low error. I have attached a shot video showing this, I'm sure if i compare this to all the videos online, you would have to agree this is excessive.
2 things could be causing this.....!
1...The after market coolant reservoir that i put in the car could not be 100% accurate and the pump tell tail is not formed correctly causing the excess pressure....
or
2...The replacement water pump i put in the car a few years ago is over speeding for some reason causing this issue, the high presser jet is there at cold start, so not sure it is temp related.
Car is not over heating, but not 100% sure if it (cooling) is behaving correctly, as i'm sure the car maintained 80c with spikes in the 90's and high 90's in the past, and now it is staying around 98c with the odd drop to 80's, so some dodgy stuff going on...! i did do a second thermo change when i noticed the higher temp thinking i had a dodgy one, but this has not changed the behavior.
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm tempted to do another water pump change, but thought i would ask the question in here first before committing to the expense and effort only for the same issue to be there...!
In the past when the coolant was low.....it's now doing it often, even at cold start.....it really makes me nervous, as i have had so many issues with the cooling in the past, whenever i see the message, i check....;-)
I'm not sure when the cap is on of course, but if i tap the little orange post when the cap is off, it seem to go up and down freely.....Now that i think of it, when the cap is on, the orange post end is up inside the cap and now i'm wondering if the water jet squirts against the side of the cap and some maybe directed downward onto the float, forcing it down......i really think it is to do with the velocity of the water jet that is causing this, i'm very sure it is more intense than it was before and what i have seen on youtube on all of those water pump video where people explain the purging of the cooling system after the change....just need to work out why this is, is it the pump being told to run so high or is it just faulty or it is the tank....I'm scratching my head...
I believe the float that is used for the low coolant light switch is different than the float you see with the cap off. Apologies if I'm incorrect about that. I might just be mixing that up with the reservoir that was in my Golf.
The 2 has nothing to do with each other. The floating level indicator is for the driver to see where the coolant level is. If you look at the bottom of the reservoir there is a sensor that has to be plugged in. The pic attached is what it looks like out of the reservoir. You may want to look at it to make sure it was plugged in correctly or it may be faulty.
Also ensure you have no air in the system.

The coolant tank sensor is kinda a complicated device....Yes the sensor insert into the bottom of the tank and read the position of the float by magnetic rings built into the float, so the float position does directly indicate the fluid level....
