LW,

I understand what you mean, and I also think about it like that.

Despite of this I am going to look tomorrow, I take someone with me, who is working at bmw dealership.

That dealer has a 535d T "M" also but for 50.000 euro's and has 110.000 km and is also 12-04,
I think that is to expensive for the car which will decrease in price a lot in the coming years.

So despite it's not a real M it could be a nice car for the money ?

But I will defenitly call the dealer in Germany to check km's and history.

Will let you know..

Congrats on a very nice car!

But, no it doesn't have the "full" M-kit equipment. Apparantly they have just put on the exterior part and not the interior.

The wheels are called 172M and are optional for the E60, and not the E61. On the E61 you need to either have four front wheels or the staggered approach from the E60 set-up with spacers in the rear.

To get a full list of what your car has and hasn't, go to your nearst BMW dealer and ask for a transcript of all options installed in your car.
+1, your answer could not be better than it is.

Maybe a little OT but do you have some special tax over there on cars? 37k looks quite expensive for such a car and 50k is just ridiculous when looking at for example BMW.de where you can get a nice one for around 30k.

If I was to get an E61 again I'd make sure to get fully electric sports seats or comfort ditos, the L7 sound system, bluetooth phone connection and the electric trunk operation. Note that not even cupholders in the front are offered as standard..I discovered that when I was on the way home from the dealer and wanted to stash my drink somewhere Things that are bugging me most in the current ride though is the crappy sound system and the lack of support from the sport seats headrests.

GL with the purchase anyway and hope to see you back here soon

You're spot on - there are some serious taxes on cars here. A well-specced 530d (auto, leather, heated comf seats, adaptive xenons, extended a/c, navi prof, alarm, sun shades, extra lighting pack), when purchased new, will set you back the base catalog price of EUR51k + Car Tax of EUR21k + VAT of EUR9.7k for a total cost of EUR81.8k. The "value" assigned to Car Tax tapers off over a 10 year period so, for someone buying a 3 year-old car from Germany at the much lower prices there, on importing it into the Netherlands, roughly 7/10 or so of the car tax would be payable to the authorities here.

It's no wonder that a colleague of mine's EUR 900 a month lease gets him a poverty spec 520i and no more.

That said, you guys in Scandianavia have some pretty major car taxes too, don't you?

@Jappie: You're doing absolutely the right thing by taking a friendly dealer to view the car with you. Hope all goes well with the viewing.

Good thing you're bringing someone who knows BMW's! The thing is, when you're not fully familiar with BMW's, you won't see / feel the difference between a 535d with 110.000km or 180.000km. The one with 180.000km also drives great and feels rigid! (and I should know, since I woked for quite some yours at a BMW dealership!)

Do you need a car right away? A friend of mine has a 535d (sedan) which is loaded (M-package, Individual options) and from 10-2006. He's selling it within 2 months for a damn sharp price (but higher than 37k, of course!)!!

Hi MacSid,

I heard that the high taxes on cars are only in Denmark (200% tax). Even worse than in Holland!! On the other hand, they don't have any income taxes AND higher gross income. That's a BIG difference from our greedy government...

Tell me about it! 7.5 years after first arriving in the Netherlands, I am still trying to get used to the little box on my payslip telling me I'm in the 52% band for income tax

AND that you have to pay 25% 'bijtelling' on your company car (I drove a company car for several years). That is 25% over the price INCLUDING taxes, so tax over tax.......

@ Jappie:

Wait with buying the other car!! I have found a much nicer car for you, for about the same price!!

Also 535d Touring, but with an original M-sport package! Options are:
- M-sports package (so black roof liner, sport suspension, M-steering wheel, shadow line, etc.)
- Carbon black with brown leather
- Comfort seats
- Head-up display (!)
- Hifi Professional (!)
- Panoramic roof
- Blue tooth

And lots of extra (small) options. It looks great (see pictures) and the options are also great!
Sh**, I'm even thinking of trading my car in...

Btw it's also from 2005 (not 2004!) AND an originally Dutch WITH BMW dealer guarantee!!!
