The dutch importer once lost 4 brand new VW Touaregs. They were transported to russia for a tv program and were confiscated at the border by the border patrol. The cars disapeared after being confiscated. I think the border patrol guys are driving some nice VW's now!
TV Program?? With cars?? In Russia? They only got TV Programs with Vodka.

Now.. seriously.. Not the romanian gypsies are the one stealing your cars! Russians and the nice guys from Ukraine. Here... you can go wherever you want in this country night or day without being afraid that someone will get out of the bushes with a UZI in his hand stoping and stealing your car. This happens a lot in Russia and Ukraine. A friend of mine came back to Romania from a trip to Ukraine by train. His Mercedes E320 remained was "borrowed" by the ukrainean guys.

NEVER GO THERE!

If you want to take a rental car over there they won't let you take one to those countrys.
If you just drive towards the boarder, they (the rent-a-car company) will stop the car via satelite before you are leaving Germany!

yep...

The ex USSR teritory (Romania was never part of USSR.. just a comunist country till 1989) sucks!

But.. I heard something about Hungary too!!! They rob you at the gas stations. I know that my friends that are going to Germany or Netherlands never drive in Hungary at night or even stop there!! Budapest I heard is a little thief's heaven too.

too many dangerous places around here

we should move to Mars.

Beeing in the travel business I can tell you that in the better hotels (Poland, Russia, etc...) they have valet parking, and nothing else than valet parking.
The valet guys are carrying machine guns and they NEVER let you in the garage, NEVER! If you need something out of your car, they pull the car up in front of the Hotel, and park it as soon as you are done!

It is wierd. When I see a picture of the E61 I do not like it so much but when I see it in person I over it. I have only seen a few around in this area but never saw one until after delivery of my car.

btw, icefly, interested in meeting with the rest of us @Gro?er Feldburg? I saw the F on your plate.
