If you ever want a master car thief. Poland is the way to go. I was in Krakow for a weekend and saw 2 car jackings. They were the most POS cars I have ever seen but they don't care. They even have security guards in the small convienient stores.

When you stay at one of the better hotels, they have valet parking only and you are NEVER getting access to their garage. Those valet guys are carrying automatic firearms...

There are a couple jokes in Germany... like:

The Polish have been the first in space !
Earlier than anbody else... And there is proof of it...

On the star constellation "Greater Bear" (in Germany known as the "Greater Waggon" - see pic below) the wheels are missing !!!

Or:

Come and visit the beautiful Poland!

Your car is allready here!

In holland an X5 is almost un insurable. You need to have a class 5 alarmsystem on it to get it insured. Class 5 involves satelite tracking on the car. while class 3 only does woo, woo, wooo....

I allready have a class 5 on my 545iA sedan... And they don't get stolen as often as an X5 over here in Germany. The X5 is the most stolen car in Germany!

If my car was more than 90.000 euros it was required by the BMW insurance company. I stayed below that so no problem for me. If my car get's stolen or totalled they will pay me the value of a new one in the first two year. I totalled my 330 ci convertible after 1 year and 11 months and they paid for a new one + the price raises untill now. Got about 2.500 euros more than I paid for it 2 years ago

So no need for class 5. And if anyone wants to steal my car, please do it in the first two years

Dennis, I have my 328i insured at CentraalBeheer...they are OK I guess..
for the 545i the said they had no problem insuring the car ( list price 107.000 euros )
The premium I will pay will be 1300 euros/year incl. taxes...about 320 more than I
pay now for the 328i.

I like though the BMW deal - new replacement in first 2 years is pretty reassuring..
obviously costs more...but how much more ?
I could accept 15% more...

I paid around 1500 for my old 330ci that was insured for 78.500 euro's. So now I will expect to pay around 1650 for the new car..

I don't mind paying a little more. The 2 year replacement that is in the coverage is great. My car had a value of around 50.000 euro's after 2 years and they paid 78.500 so I could buy a brand new one.. That 28.500 euros profit for me, and results in a much lower monthly payment for the lease of my new car.

I can insure my car for around a 1000 euros but that is because I am an insurance broker myself, yet I still am willing to pay 650 euro's more because non of my own insurance companies can give me the 2 years replacement coverage!
