I’m In a situation where my 2010 e61 manual trans may be a total loss. Sadness. My insurance wants to pay automatic car money. Anyone have resources for what a manual is really worth?

You'll need a dealership listing for the similar year/mileage. Any trade in/government value will be way less as they don't care for the manual/wagon "tax". Private listings usually don't count and I doubt BAT would either
I had to go through the same thing for my Volvo c70 a few years back. There were barely any manuals made and 0 sold in the few years prior so negotiating took a long time

Sadly, manual transmissions have fallen out of favor in the general bimmer community, hence that's why they're not being made any more. The stick is only valued by a small cadre of fans who are willing to pay a premium for them. Your situation is not unlike the owner who has a car in perfect running condition or a rare color combination, only to have an accident that totals the car. The insurance will only pay book value and not what a willing buyer would pay. We feel your pain.

so what did you do? Wait for a dealer listing? Plenty of past sales on BAT at the current going rate which I plan to present.

Pretty much. They made 413 of them worldwide so then chances of finding some were slim. They kept wanting to give me auto values(which were also pretty uncommon as is) and it took about 4 months of back and forth; I was likely to have a broker who was an enthusiast but the system is pretty strict.
I ended up finding a similar mileage Auto one that was in a different provence and using that as a reference. I did get a bit less than I wanted but after taking off some mods I made out as I needed to.
Manual, rare options and colour combos; insurance cant prove, you need dealer listings on your state or near by within the last 6 months(with a manual) to use as reference.
