I've watch that video 20 times, and used it to guide me in my repair. My advice is to absolutely do both sides. The left side carries the ground for the window defroster - that's one of the cables that was broken on my car. With the mess you have on the right, you'll have the same on the left.

I think that is a safe assumption...
Left has likely been repaired just as badly just to add to the trouble.
Thanks again for your input,
Cheers

Updated SENCOM tailgate wiring harness LINK
In addition to the European links to EBay items for the SENCOM 2016061 and 2016062, here's an updated link to the actual SENCOM website. If you can't read German, there's a link up in the address bar to change to English. This is the kit for the right AND left sides. I believe, but haven't confirmed that this provides EVERY lead needed. Their website says that the harness will support the highest optioned e61 vehicles, so we should be good, just an extra wire or two. One of the above posts/replies stated a need for SENCOM # ANT0612, so I have asked SENCOM to confirm if anything else is needed.
Pricing was in Euros. It came out to just below US $158.00 inclusive of shipping. That is significantly below what the Poland and other sites are asking as prices. I do expect it to take a while to get here. My current problem is only that the Key Fob remote access is not working, so not a huge deal for me. Just plan ahead, and get some better splice/butt connectors if appropiate.
