I've got a 2007 LCI it was registered on 27 -12 -07.
I'm trying to find out if it's a 177BHP. When I look at the engine cover it looks like those fitted in the 2008 models. How do you tell?

it depends on the engine you've got. is it a diesel or gas engine and what size is it?

Odd that your car was built in Dec 2007 and you are referring to it as a 2007 car? Not sure if its different in the states but any car built that late wouldve been referred to as a 2008...

Registration changers here in January so mine is still a 57 plate (meaning the second half of 2007), but a very late one.
Btw it's a 520d.
Thanks for the help guys.

I take it you looked at https://5series.net/information/options/engines/ since you mentioned the engine cover.
To be certain, you can take your key down to your local BMW dealer and ask him to give you a printout of your vehicle specifications. You might also just call, give him the VIN number and ask him to email it as pdf. There you see all the options installed, production date, engine code etc.
Unless your car sat idle on the dealers lot for 5 months, my guess is you have the sweet 177 hp version that barely sips diesel. They started hitting the market with the first registrations done in Germany in Sep '07.

Hello to everyone.
You can find out the fabrication month of you car on another site using the last 7 digits of your VIN.I'm not sure I'm allowed to give the name of the site here but if it's in order I shall post it.

For peace of mind you should get confirmation on the exact engine code. I looked around the engine room yesterday and didn't find any relevant stickers or stamps. However, in the driver side door frame, there are two adjacent stickers; one with tyre recommendations and the other with build information. I don't see the engine code M57D30T2 I was expecting for my car; however it does say 306D5 and that reminded me I had seen that code on a sparepart website when I searched for my car and horsepower combination. So I've just learned I have a different engine code than I thought. Take a look at your sticker and see if you get a valuable clue.
