My Ride: 2008 535xiT (E61)
Black Sapphire / Black Leather / bamboo.
Steptronic, Full Aero Kit, 35% Tints. 18" Run Flats.
All the goodies short of Active Cruise, Comfort Access and the safty options.
2002 BMW R1150R. Red, Corbin, PIAAs, Fiamm,
I've been trolling this forum since I ordered my car 8 weeks ago and have learned a lot. Thanks
My dealer tells me my 535xiT is at the service dept getting tints and aero kit installed.
He says I can have her this Saturday if all goes according to plan.
This is my first E60 (61), my last BMW was an E39.
Any advise on the first days out? What do I need to look for / look at / get to know right a way?
Break in procedure? I hear you're supposed to drop her into Neutral and press the accelerator to the floor until the "Check Engine" light comes on.
Is that right?
Any and all advice would be helpful and appreciated.

If you jack the car up on bricks and drive it in reverse, your mileage goes down. Your SA probably didn't mention that, but it works. At least it did in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Hahahahaha! Love that movie.
Congrats on the new car. Hope to see you at our next NY meet this Spring/Summer.

Picked her up yesterday. My first impressions are first rate.
If I can just get past messing with the iDrive maybe I can make some observations about the rest of the car.
Will post more later. Going for a drive now.

First impressions:
I programmed my two steering wheel buttons to what I think is most important.
The first to Mute everything, the second to turn off the screen and just let me enjoy driving.
Ran around the city a bit, the car definitely holds her own. I learned to drive in NYC and can alter my driving to simulate that of an 80s cabbie.
I attached the DVD players in back for the kids, it keeps them from getting car sick.
What can I do to keep my wife from getting car sick and telling to stop driving like a maniac? Buzz kill!
Getting used to the GPS. Not my favorite but its growing on me, still think my Magellan does a better job.
Dont think the heads up display was a wise purchase. The Aero kit and the comfort seats definitely were.
Think the side mirrors are a bit small but absolutely love that they fold in electronically.
I haven't really pushed the car as it only has 70 miles on it, but from what I've seen I dont think I'll be disappointed.
Cant wait to turn off the DSC drop it into Manual mode and slam on the throttle.
