Hi,

I'm in the process of specifying my new 530xi Touring. With M-sport package it comes with 18" alloys but I'm wondering whether 17" can also fit in? Does anyone here in the forum has more information on this?

Is the ride quality too harsh with 245/40 R18, especially in potholes and speed bumps?

Regards,
Petteri

17 inch wheels should of course fit, but the question is whether you would want to give up the nice design of your 18 inch rims for smaller ones. You will find numerous threads on this forum that indicate that comfort of E60/61 vehicles is much more dependent on what tires are mounted (RFT vs non RFT, tire manufacturer) than on the rim size. My car has 17 inch 244 wheels with Goodyear NCT5 225/50/17 runflats and I hate the tires, because on various road surfaces the car tends to hammer and shake. If only those BMW dealerships would be more flexible towards swapping tires from RFT to non-RFT at delivery...

Keep the 18's.

They look a lot better and the ride quality is not much different.

I agree that it is the RFT's that make the biggest difference.
