I have some snow tires from my e46 that are style 42 wheels (16 inch). Will they fit over the brakes on the e60/61? We really don't have significant snow in the Seattle area but I make occasional trips to the mountains where they come in handy.

Thanks in advance!

All X-Models get 17" or 18" wheels from factory. Here in Finland all legally allowed sizes are listed in registration book and they from 17" to 19" for X-models.

But If you have 16" in garage, why not test if they fit over front brakes? E46 wheels has the right ET figure for X-models.

I'd be surprised if they fit... if your brakes are the same size as on the 535xiT, they're 13.7" up front. Too big for 16" wheels. You may want to consider 17" steelies from bavauto.com as an option.

That being said, if you have the wheels, try 'em on... I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

I'm running 16" wheels and winter tyres on mine - not sure of the style but you can see them in the pic below. There's no probs with mine and in fact, while I think the wheels are actually 3-series wheels, they are the recommended winter wheels for a 5-series from BMW.

Like the poster above though, I don't have X drive.
