And that would not work for me unless I had a calculator mounted on my arm!
I got the best (lowest) fuel consumption with the 530d last summer (in Germany) during our road trip when driving an average speed of 180km/h. I enjoyed that.

I never managed that low in my 530d, but with the 525d (LCI) and 520d I could get into the 5.xL / 100km range. But that's all history for now, I don't even look at the average consumption any more -- its better that way!

That's the way the Danes calculate their fuel consumption.
My avg consumption is also better on the Autobahn at 180 km/h, than cruising around in Copenhagen. Awesome car

The first 60 km from Bad Gastein and northbound is limited 80 km/h roads (mostly downhill), so that's the reason for the fine consumption.
550iA and caring about the fuel consumption = waste of time, use the time for locating the next petrol station instead. A family member just sold his 550iA LCI (Danish), and got a C320 CDI. His range doubled with the change..

My Ride: 2007 530XiT (E61)
I have an 07 530XiT and while I've only had it a few months, I don't think I've gotten better than 10L/100km yet! Is it just the diesels that get fuel economy that good? I know some of the entry-level diesel engines are smaller so I'm sure that makes a difference too. There are a lot of (fuel-sucking) features on this car, but I was hoping my fuel economy would be a bit better than the 10.5-11 litres / 100km (~21.5 - 22.5 US MPG) I've experienced so far...

Great pics and looks like a great vacation. I've only skiied in the Alps once and I will never forget it. The mountains are so jagged and have much more vertical feet than the Rockies.
