Cali car, sat for 6 months unsold being bounced around a BMW chain. Asking $35K CPO'd. Internet sales mgr willing to knock down to $33.5K for non-CPO. (My understanding is Bimmer CPO is absolute garbage). Edmunds suggest dealer value: $33000. I just hate buying used cars from a dealership cuz of taxes/fees which would rack up easily another $3K here in Cali.

Car spec:
08 535xiT
29K mi
Warranty expires Jan 02.
Premium package.
Monaco blue w/ tan interior, 1 owner, no "recorded" accidents.

Any input/comment much appreciated.

the bmw cpo certainly isn't "garbage", it is just less comprehensive than the oem/factory warranty. I am sure it may be less coverage than some other options too but it covers the more important things anyway. I have heard great things about National Warranty based in Eugene, OR though. Better coverage for our Audi than the extended Audi warranty and for less $.

what "taxes and fees" due to dealership purchase are you talking about? You still pay sales tax or some sort of tax upon registration no matter where you buy the car.

To me it's hard to say if the price is right or not. You list "premium package" is that all, no other options? I doubt it, but the options and all the items makes a difference, just as much as if the paint is in good condition, the smell of the interior, the wear, etc.

Why don't you compare the pricing to other cars in the same condition and decide for yourself. What price is right for you is not necessarily right for someone else.

It does not sound unreasonably high though, nor questionably low.

I would get it with CPO. If is a BMW dealer I find it strange that they did not already run it through the shop for CPO? With CPO you can take out a BMW loan for 4 years a 0.9%.

The price seems to be in a reasonable range maybe a little high;my bet is that you could get the car with CPO for $34,000 +/-. The lack of Nav is a big negative. Does it have other options like park distance?
