Default Z-Max to the rescue!

I was at my local BMW dealership (Global BMW - Atlanta), and in their beautiful, customer service, drive-up, bay area, they have "ZMax Multi-purpose Formula" on a prominent display.

Hmmm. BMW dealership recommends ZMax http://www.zmax.com/micro_lubricant/automotive/; let me look into this, as it must be good!

Here's what I found residing inside of that mystical looking 32oz bottle:

Yep! Good ol' Mineral (Snake) oil!

What a freakin' joke!

Here's what else I learned:

Global BMW, is owned by Sonic Automotive Group, who just happens to be the marketers of ZMax.

Honor, dignity, truthfulness, has simply vanished.

But there are some nuggets of information from this tale.

1. I have often heard that running mineral oil for about 20 minutes prior to dumping your engine oil is great for cleaning out carbon, etc from your engine. Zmax / Global BMW definitely agrees!

2. Home Depot is your snake oil source. Mineral oil, kerosene, and Naptha are all readily available from them and dirt cheap.

3. I've used BG, Engine Purge, as it cleans out the crud in your engine very effectively. Here's what's in it:

Yep! Kerosene and Naphtha.

BG Engine Purge runs $30 a 32oz bottle, At Home Depot. I can make many bottles for $30
