I just ordered the wooden shift knob for my beige leather car with poplar wood (automatic). The part came in with poplar wood, but the outside is wrapped in a black looking leather.

I was expecting beige leather to match my car. So I called Circle BMW back and they say it only comes in black.

Does that sound right? Did any of you also order the wooden shift knob with a beige interior and install it with the black part on the outside? It just doesn't seem to match.

That sounds right to me. I don't think I've ever seen a shift knob have anything but black leather on it. Imagine how dirty a beige leather patch would get with skin oil, etc.

Having said that, I'm sure it looks better than the black/silver shift knob.

I believe you're right. The black or gray leather appears to be always used, even on the E39. No beige at all I think. Still seems odd to me.

I have had other cars with a beige shifter and it's fine. Same for a steering wheel. Both would get skin oil on it. But again, beige would still be fine. Oh well...

I heard you just pull it off and then push the other on. This has been posted before.

I just need to get my car now. Looks like Tuesday for me.

$120 at Circle BMW. $160 at most other dealerships.
